Autumn Sets in at Thyme Cottage

Never fear dear friends, the Whispers at Thyme Cottage haven't grown silent again, and Muriel and Albert Singer are still enjoying their lives in this sweet little cottage down the long forgotten road... they have just been busy getting on with things over the summer, but Autumn has definitely set in and the winds are blowing the Autumn leaves swirling around Thyme Cottage and the whispers are louder again.  Muriel has had her washing on the little line that Albert strung up for her, and has just brought it in....

The little front porch at Thyme Cottage is looking very welcoming...

Inside Muriel is busy having just brought her washing in from the line.

She doesn't look overly impressed with having to do some ironing

but quickly shakes that feeling from her mind

and gets to work

it won't take long and soon all the washing will be neatly ironed and ready to go away.

Sure enough the ironing board is now tucked behind the wringer/mangle.

The sound of singing is once again coming from the kitchen as Muriel gets the kettle on and prepares some pots to cook their dinner.

The scent of home cooking fills the air.

Just a glimpse at the shelves to see if there are any changes in Thyme Cottage.
Sure enough there are a couple of pots sitting on top of the dresser.

Muriel's home baked bread always looks and smells delicious!

The whispers join in with Muriel's humming

Dinner will be served soon.

What's New at Thyme Cottage?

The Whispers continue to draw us in...

as does the smell of baking

Mmmm delicious pie and freshly baked bread.

You may have noticed there is now a kitchen shelf on the wall and a new table on which Muriel can now work.  It has certainly made life easier in her little kitchen and for that she is grateful.

She is still a little short on crockery and pots and pans but so far has been able to make do with what she has.

Their hallway is large enough to have a little dining room table on which sits the candles they use for lighting at night.

Under the stairs sits the towel rack/airer and washing basket.

Some of the treasures Albert brought home from his travels are being put to use and his painting has been put on the wall above the desk.

The book case has some greenware china on the shelves.

Albert and Muriel are happy that the Whispers have brought the house back to life again and can imagine sitting by the fire on cold evenings, all snug and cozy.

Coming to Life...

As we take a sneaky look into Thyme Cottage we can see it coming to life...

It seems they are rather fond of clocks, perhaps in fear of time standing still...but do they all tell the same time?

There is now a little shelf with laundry powder above the wringer.

The kitchen hutch dresser has signs of freshly baked bread on the shelves...I bet the smell wafts along on the breeze as the Whispers tell their tale.

Oh but what is this?

Don't tell me they have a mouse problem at Thyme Cottage?

A sunny day down that long forgotten road...

Down that long long forgotten road, all the way to the end where we find Thyme Cottage, it is bright and sunny and the windows have been thrown open to let in the sunshine.  There are no whispers today, all is silent and yet there is something different, something is definitely happening from within.

If we take a peep inside we can see...

...that things aren't quite as forgotten as they used to be.

No longer does this long forgotten cottage seem completely neglected and forlorn, but rather it seems a home is emerging just as the whispers promised.

If we venture in further still looking through the downstairs window, ever so quietly...

...we see a table set for one...

...but hang on a minute...surely there are two who live in this cottage?  The whispers hear you ask.

Perhaps they are not ready yet to reveal all of the secrets.

Or is there a sadder story to be told?

Only if we listen carefully will all unfold.

The lady of the house is washing at the sink.

It seems that she has been busy.

Busy preparing...
